About Strux Garage

Not in a boardroom — in garages, on job sites, working directly with homeowners.
That’s where this started.

By 2022, Webfoot Home Improvements in Bend, Oregon had been installing concrete coatings for several years — most often in the garage. Founded by Travis Ulrich and Gavin Hepp, the focus was simple: deliver high-quality work and a Seriously Great customer experience.

And our customers wanted more.

Once the floor was done, they wanted the full system — storage, organization, a finished space that matched the rest of their home. So we started looking for a garage cabinet product to add. We explored everything on the market, but couldn’t find cabinets that matched the level of quality our customers expected.

A Different Problem, the Same Standard

At the same time, in Caldwell, Idaho, Paul Unger was working on a different problem. He believed the benefits of powder-coated MDF would have many valuable applications. To prove it, he purchased a powder coating operation, formed Unger Powder Coatings, and set out to master powder coating MDF.

Industry partners and powder suppliers shared what they knew, but it wasn’t that simple. It took relentless trial and error — refining temperatures, powder blends, moisture content, and speeds — until he could consistently produce a fully bonded, durable finish across sharp edges, varying thicknesses, and different colors.

As he worked with other manufacturers, providing parts for their products, he researched the best application for his new capabilities. That led him to garage cabinets. Garages are one of the toughest environments in the home — temperature swings, moisture, heavy use, and heavy storage demands. Most cabinets weren’t designed for that. Paul’s were.

When We Got Our Hands on Them

Paul approached Webfoot to become a dealer so he could focus on manufacturing his new cabinets and stop building parts for other companies. When we first saw them installed and got our hands on them, the difference was clear — stronger, more durable, and better looking than anything we had seen.

We installed them for a handful of our best customers to test them in real garages. The feedback was enthusiastic:

“Oh my gosh — I had no idea. Why didn’t you tell me these were so awesome?”

That was the overwhelming sentiment across those first installs. We knew we had found a product we were genuinely excited to bring to every customer we worked with — and proud to stand behind.

Built by Contractors, for Contractors

So we partnered with Paul, bringing his cabinets to Webfoot’s customers. Working closely together, we refined the processes for design, ordering, and installation.

Soon, other contractors — our peers in the industry — started reaching out. Their customers wanted the same thing. They were facing the same challenge we had and looking for a product they could confidently stand behind.

So after years of partnership, we formed Strux Garage Cabinets to build a complete system — from design through manufacturing and installation — to help professional contractors confidently add Strux cabinets to their business and deliver a product they’re proud to stand behind.

We brought in Simon Taylor to develop a custom platform connecting design, proposal, ordering, manufacturing, and installation into one seamless workflow. The result is a system built by contractors, for contractors.
